Pinterest has quickly grown to become the 3rd largest social media platform in the US. User adoption continues to accelerate, with Pinterest adding millions of new users annually. While many people use Pinterest casually to discover ideas for recipes, home design, outfit inspirations, and more, savvy marketers recognize the platform's potential to drive business results.
With the right strategy tailored to your business, Pinterest marketing can help you drive organic traffic to your website, increase conversion rates, and position your brand among other trusted companies.
Big brands are already finding success with Pinterest marketing. But you don't need a huge budget to see results. By following a strategic approach, you can leverage Pinterest's unique capabilities to attract and engage potential customers.
Pinterest Business Account
You need to make sure that you have a business account when using Pinterest. In order to monetize this platform, Pinterest requires you to have one. Even if your old Pinterest account is the normal one, you can swap it over. This can be achieved in the settings section.
A business account is going to allow you to look at your analytics and to see your engagement which is really important because you want to make sure that your content is getting in front of the right audience. If you are posting content and you don't have a business account you are not going to be able to ensure that your content is actually what people are searching for and ensuring that the people viewing your content are actually of your niche.

Pinterest Trends
After you've created your Pinterest business account you will unlock access to their trends feature located in the analytics menu. Trends is a gold mine for your Pinterest account. This feature allows you to type in what you think your keyword will be and see if it is trending. If it's not something that's trending it won't come up.
This feature also allows you to see what your current audience is looking for. It gives you ideas for what you should be posting about to reach maximum potential engagement. And if you make it to the bottom of the trends page, you can see growing trends and keywords people are actually searching for. This is a fantastic way to hop on a trend before it has even taken off yet. You can be the trendsetter that everyone sees once that trend does finally go big.
Pinterest As A Lead Magnet
The goal for your marketing efforts is drive traffic from your pins to your external offer. This can look like an Amazon Storefront, Like To Know It (LTK), a digital or physical product, Etsy, or even an eCommerce store. People are using Pinterest as a search engine so, you the creator are placing the pins in front of the right audience, who then click the pins, going to the external offers and purchasing from you.
This is also a great way to simply drive traffic to other social media platforms that you're looking to grow, building email lists, or even drive traffic to a blog. This is a great opportunity to offer a free product as a lead magnet in order to get their email and later down the line start marketing them your higher ticket services and products. You may have heard the phrase "The Rule of 7s". This refers to the fact that a buyer is more likely to buy from you only after a minimum of 7 interactions with your business. Getting an email from your potential customer allows you to keep in touch with them whilst serving them directly more relevant information that they are already interested in.
Pins allow you to link a direct product or service that will get clicks over time the more pins you create and the more you target the right audience.
But, you need to be careful when posting affiliate links on Pinterest. If you post affiliate links too often, Pinterest will see you as spammy and you could potentially get your account banned. A best practice to make sure you have a landing page like a storefront, a blog, an LTK, Linktree, Shopify, some sort of link that contains your affiliate links within them. Another important note, DO NOT shorten your affiliate links. It will get you in trouble with Pinterest.
Repurpose Other Videos As Pins
This one is pretty self explanatory. Take a video that is related to your niche that may have been uploaded to TikTok or Instagram first. And when you upload a video to Pinterest you have the option to link out to your affiliate links.
This is also a similar process when you upload photos as static pins. when you're creating your pin you can also link static pins out to your affiliate links as well. I would recommend creating a well crafted static pin that leads you to a small blog post that is related to your affiliate links. This way you can share many more affiliate links within the blog post and the user will get more content and value from you while you can sprinkle in more affiliate links throughout the article you think might be useful to them.

Stop Repinning Others Content
As a business/content creator it's important to make sure that your content is the prominent focus of your Pinterest blog. There is a subsection for that but if you want to show up on other people's feeds and favored by Pinterest's algorithm the first thing you need to do is stop repinning so much. Pinterest wants fresh, new content. Even if it's not new to you, it can still get traction within Pinterest's algorithm.
How Many Times Should You Be Posting?
There isn't a set number on how much you should be posting each day. However, if you're just starting out, 5 - 10 quality posts per day would be ideal. And after a few months you can ramp that up to almost 20 quality posts per day. This may sound like quite a bit, but remember what we mentioned earlier, you can repurpose content. The more you put out there, the better chance the right people will find you and you can grow faster.
SEO and Keywords
I know, it's been said many times within many different platforms and marketing blogs. But, search engine optimization (SEO) is one of the most crucial aspects to making any Pinterest account/marketing campaign successful. This includes optimizing your bio in your profile, optimizing descriptions on your posts, and of course, keywords!
With all the content that's floating around on Pinterest, they need to know specifically who to serve your content to. Keywords are a way to stand out, and a lot of keywords might be underutilized. This gives you a chance to still stand out in your niche without using some of the most popular and common keywords. And research your keywords intently. Getting 5 conversions for your links within 100 views is infinitely better than getting no clicks in 1000 views. Be descriptive and be relevant.
In addition to Pinterest, if you're interested in bettering your SEO and keyword research for your website, I'll leave a link for article on each below.
To Conclude: Pinterest for Business Growth
Pinterest growth can be a long term endeavor. Don't be discouraged if you don't see results for the first 3 - 6 months of your journey. But, Pinterest can easily be one of the most rewarding social media tools for marketing your business. Keep your content consistent and relevant, focus on SEO and finding those keywords that will bring people to you. With over 445 million users per day, Pinterest is a marketing tool that shouldn't be ignored. You just need to put in the effort and be patient!
